EDM Machinist

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:
An EDM Machinist operates and maintains Wire EDM machines and produces quality parts that meet all specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate Wire EDM machines safely and efficiently
  • Program operations in Mastercam
  • Produce quality parts with a low scrap rate
  • Accurately utilize BTM ERP system for time clock functions and updating work orders
  • Perform basic quality checks, including first piece and in-process inspection
  • Perform routine machine maintenance – including removing spent wire and monitoring water levels
  • Report production issues and nonconforming product issues to management
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Follow all company QMS requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five years’ experience operating Wire EDM machinery
  • Three years of experience programming Mastercam
  • Willing and able to operate other machine tools (Mills, Lathes, Grinders) as required to set up fixtures and perform other operations from time to time
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools
  • Ability to read and interpret parts drawings
  • Mathematical knowledge (algebra, geometry, and trigonometry)
  • Excellent reasoning ability for on-the-job problem solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • MS Suite literacy
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Can lift up to 50 lbs
  • Can stand up to 90% of the day

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum requirement: High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Trade school or apprenticeship in a relevant field such as CNC programming or machining
