GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION

• To provide support to engineering department managing special machinery projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow up with suppliers to get information, quotes, or design buyoff.
• Follow up with design venders and help them get what they may need and track progress.
• Help designers get the required information.
• Schedule and manage design reviews.
• Get supplier buy off for application.
• Assist in getting missing information
• Create Sequence of operations.
• Work with existing project managers.
• Manage outsourcing for engineering.

Requirements and desires:

• 5-years' experience in a relevant field (required one or all the items below:
  • Machine building
  • Machinist
  • Project management
  • Machine design
• Experienced with SolidWorks. (Not a requirement but a plus)
  
  • Detailing
  • Design
  • Checking
• Mechanical Design savvy
  
  • Understand machine elements. (Should have at least some understanding of the
    function of the items listed here.)
    
    • Screws
    • Slides
    • Reducers
    • Punches
    • Dies
    • Ball screws
    • Etc.
  • Understands how machines work. (Abililty to look at a machine
    and describe with some accuracy how the machine works)
• Experienced in controls.
  • Understands Hardware Design elements & Programming Design elements.
  • Be able to read a Job Process Sheet and understand it.)
• Able to work with controls designers and programmers.
• Working understanding of controls architecture. (This is a plus)
  • Understands Allen Bradley PLC’s, HMI’s (This is a plus)
  • Understands Siemens & OMRON Components (This is a plus)
  • Understands “Other” components, such as: (This is a plus)
• Safety Elements, Light Screens, etc.
• Safety Scanners.
• Bar Code Readers & Printers.
• Servo’s & Variable Frequency Drives.
• Capable of understanding mechanics at a conceptual level (required)
  • Capable of reading prints.
  • Knowledge of GD&T.
  • Understandings how a machine works from looking at it.
• Able to create concepts that are sound at a conceptual level.
  • Able to devise a workable solution if given a problem.
• Capable of working/collaborating with application engineers to develop products and processes.
• Capable of analyzing critical design factors. (This is a plus)
• Capable of interpreting analysis of critical design factors. (This is a plus)
• Capable of managing a complex project.
