GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:
- Assure conformance of BTM product components (Manufactured and Purchased) by inspection of components, and communicating with BTM employees and its suppliers regarding resolving nonconforming material issues.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum two years experience in a Quality Department with well-rounded knowledge in metrology techniques and methods.
- Ability to use and operate all metrology instruments and metrology equipment owned by BTM COMPANY, LLC.
- Ability to program CMM's for automated inspection purposes.
- Ability to communicate with BTM employees, as well as BTM's customers and suppliers both verbally and in written format, regarding quality issues that may arise, and assure the issues are satisfactorily resolved.
- Must be able to perform the job duties of the Calibration Technician.
- Ability to write technical reports, mainly from dimensional findings.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications as drawn, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Ability to train BTM employees in correct metrology methods, including the correct use of inspection instruments.
- Compute literate, mainly in the use of Microsoft Work and Excel, and including communication via e-mail.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 requirements as they relate to product quality.
- Maintaining an organized work area.
- Ability to record, organize, and maintain quality system information related to product quality into the appropriate records retention system used by the Quality Department.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct First Article Inspections - Including keeping and maintaining inspection records.
- Conduct In-process Inspections - Including keeping and maintaining inspection records.
- Conduct Receiving Inspections of contracted and purchased components.
- Conduct Fixture, and Project Inspections - Including keeping and maintaining inspection records.
- Conduct Prototype Inspections - Including keeping and maintaining inspection records.
- Operate all metrology equipment owned by BTM COMPANY, LLC.
- Assist Calibration Technician, and help with company calibration requirements as needed.
- Assist and train level "B" Quality Department Inspectors to achieve level "A" inspector's status.
- Train employees on the correct use of metrology equipment.
- Train employees to use correct inspection methods.
- Organize, maintain and correctly identify products as the are released, or rejected from the Quality Department.
- Adhere to company Quality System procedures, processes, and work instructions as they relate to the Quality Department.
- Record, organize, and maintain quality system information related to product quality into the appropriate records retention system used by the Quality Department.
- Report and document continuous improvement opportunities for the company, and initiate, recommend, and provide solutions to these opportunities to management.
- Assure company conforms to ISO 9000 requirements as related to the Quality Department.
- Perform statistical analyses of manufacturing processes (proper data collection and data analysis) as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Quality Manager.
DESIRED QUALIFICATION(S):
- CQI - Certified Quality Inspector (ASQ)
- Additional metrology training (college or trade)
- Statistical data collection and analysis training.
- Quality system auditing experience
EDUCATION:
- High School Graduate/ or Equivalent
